Amb (R)  Moazzam Ahmad Khan

Biography

Ambassador khan has recently retired as the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the United Kingdom as well as Pakistan’s Representative to the Commonwealth. Before this he served as Ambassador of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Netherlands.   As a career diplomat, he has held many important assignments in various countries including Minister (Political) at Pakistan Embassy in Washington D.C., Counsellor, New Delhi, Second Secretary in the Netherlands and Nairobi.   He has represented Pakistan at the various International Forums including ICJ, OIC, Commonwealth, OPCW, UNEP, UNESCO, IRENA and HABITAT. He has also been Pakistan’s Representative and member of key commercial organizations, as well as an important member of the planning / implementation team of the Pakistan Pavilion at the World Expo, 2020.   At the Pakistan Foreign Ministry Headquarters, Amb khan has served as Special Foreign Secretary overseeing the administration of more than two thousand officers and staff, as well as preparing budgets for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also served as Spokesperson of the Ministry as well as Director General responsible for Foreign Minister’s office. He remained closely associated with economic diplomacy both abroad and at the Headquarters.   Having served in four continents, Amb Moazzam khan has excellent analytical skills and the ability to deal with intricate matters related to international peace, security and economic issues. While his forte has been in dealing with the foreign governments and leadership at all levels, he holds the tremendous ability of breaking barriers and connecting with people across different cultures. His leadership promoted confidence in his subordinates and he inspires those around him to think with new perspectives.   Amb khan has a degree in International Relations and International Economics from John Hopkins University, USA and Master in Economics from the Punjab University, Pakistan. He also has to his credit, a number of international capacity building courses.   He was also awarded the ‘Order of Independence’ by the UAE government in 2018 for meritorious services in enhancing bilateral ties between the 2 countries.
